Tearful War (age 12)

Oh my love you have to go.
Will you come back I don’t know?
Why does Britain have to call all men to go and fight in war?
War only breaks womens hearts.
Please write to me everyday. Now kiss me goodbye and be on your way to tearful war.
Don’t cry you’ll come back on that train and be with me.
Now I don’t want you to see me cry, so kiss my lips and hold me tight.
Please promise me you’ll be alright. I’ll pray to God for a saving light to protect you like you do me.
As I wipe a tear from my eyes. I watch you board the train and say goodbye, as you’re on
your way to tearful war.
